It's really bugging me we didn't see any of these crashes or issues  
during the beta period.

If they were out there, but unreported, we should work on making sure  
we collect more data from out beta users. If these are somehow newly  
introduced by Release mode, then we should seriously think about doing  
a lot more testing in Release.

I'm honestly mystified at first glance by a lot of these (especially  
the lack of reporting on the betas). I will dig deeper though, there  
may be easy answers. I am reluctant though to just add checks to clear  
these out -- they seem indicative of larger problems.

Ugh.
