I like the idea of a widget that pops up to show that something is happening
but then disappears. The idea of having a search box sitting around on my
contact list doesn¹t sound too appealing to me (although I would assume we¹d
have the option to turn it off) because there just aren¹t any times that I
would have a use to search rather than simply typing the name to select it
faster. I guess my main feeling is that it would just be a wasteful use of
space. However I could probably deal with a compromise between the two
ideas and get behind a spotlight-esque search function that could be called
either with a keystroke or by clicking on it.
