Going further with this idea, what about letting users sponsor their  
own (and other people's) extras, in the same way that YTMND lets  
users sponsor their own sites? For those unfamiliar, see the left  
column of http://www.ytmnd.com/, where-in users pay money to promote  
sites and have them put on that list.

That could be pretty cool.
