Expanding on that, why not start a per-feature donation? $500 for IRC  
support, $2000 for vv, etc. Everybody can donate as much or as little  
as they want, and as soon as the amount is reached, the first to  
implement the feature will get the bounty.
I remember that somebody did set this up for various OS projects, but  
I can't remember any details.
