That's a ~270 x ~215 panel that shows only the most important info  
which actually takes about a quarter of the space.

This default takes more than half of my screen's height which IMHO is  
a waste. And closing each opened section before moving to another one  
is something I curse daily.

I agree the current panel is not that good, but tabs are the way to  
go IMO.
