Executive summary: I like "transcript"; The_Tick likes "chat".
22:51:17: <Mac-arena> Everybody knows what a log is.
22:51:22: <The_Tick> no
22:51:25: <The_Tick> my mom doesn't
22:51:33: <The_Tick> but everyone should know what a chat or
conversation is
22:51:45: <Synapse> Why not have the menu item as "View previous chats"
22:52:02: <Synapse> And the viewer called "Log viewer"
22:51:55: <patr1ck> Previous Chats sounds best to me.
22:51:59: <Mac-arena> The_Tick: Or a transcript.
22:52:03: <The_Tick> no
22:52:09: <The_Tick> she won't know what a transcript is in this sense
22:52:20: <The_Tick> she'd think medical transcripting
22:52:22: <durin42> The_Tick: seriously, what is wrong with log?
22:52:27: <The_Tick> what's right with it?
22:52:31: <durin42> all I've heard is it's not usable, and no reason
22:52:38: <durin42> it's a log. Logs are common.
22:52:51: <The_Tick> durin42: would your mom know what a log is?
22:52:56: <Synapse> I think if the menu item is friendly and the
viewer name is technical, then it's okay.
22:53:30: <The_Tick> so the question is
22:53:30: :Server: CHz16
(n=CHz at ppp-63-192-124-169.dialup.renocs.nvbell.net) joined #adium
22:53:31: <durin42> and I clapped it between feet
22:53:33: <The_Tick> why was it changed
22:53:38: <The_Tick> obviously someone has a problem with log
22:53:42: <The_Tick> or it wouldn't have been changed
22:53:50: <The_Tick> so who changed it?
22:53:57: <durin42> I still think log passes the mom test
22:54:08: <Synapse> The_Tick: Do you have access to the admin
section od adium-devl?
22:54:13: <Synapse> I need my email changed.
22:54:17: <The_Tick> neg, evan does
22:54:25: <Synapse> Yargh.
22:54:27: <The_Tick> his dreskin address is back up btw
22:56:32: <Wengero> gah i must have deleted 3k files today :(
22:56:41: <Wengero> ...individually
22:57:14: <Mac-arena> Synapse: You may be able to change it yourself.
See the bottom of an email.
22:57:15: <patr1ck> Is there a problem with using "Chats" if thats
what iChat calls them?
22:57:21: <patr1ck> uniformity is nice
22:57:30: <Mac-arena> iChat doesn't have any name for its logs.
22:57:32: <Mac-arena> I said this already.
22:57:50: <patr1ck> oh, i missed it, evans email just said it calls
them chats
22:58:02: <patr1ck> erm, no it doesn't
22:58:09: <patr1ck> disregard that.
22:58:32: <The_Tick> Mac-arena: evan replied to your email
22:58:55: <Mac-arena> I see
22:58:54: <The_Tick> can you reply about chat rather than conversation?
22:59:11: <The_Tick> I don't think we should use transcript
22:59:17: <The_Tick> your base complaint is it was long
22:59:21: <The_Tick> well, transcript is too
22:59:30: <The_Tick> but chat works in file, and has
22:59:57: <The_Tick> for how long, heh
23:00:06: <The_Tick> that's my thought on it
23:00:01: <Mac-arena> "Automatically save chat transcripts" --iChat,
Preferences window
23:00:20: <Mac-arena> Transcript isn't too long, IMO.
23:00:21: <The_Tick> Mac-arena: "View Previous Transcripts"
23:00:27: <Mac-arena> As opposed to future transcripts?
23:00:40: <The_Tick> well, those aren't transcripts yet
23:01:06: <Mac-arena> Right. All transcripts are inherently previous.
Except the current chat, which *is* included in the log viewer.
23:01:11: <Mac-arena> So:
23:01:14: <Mac-arena> Transcript Viewer
23:01:16: <Mac-arena> View Transcripts
23:01:26: <Mac-arena> (or we could have View Transcripts for some_guy)
(by which I meant display name)
