I think that's probably the most viable solution. I believe we're using 
their svn so that might make it easier to patch. There also might be 
something on trac-hacks. Would someone like to volunteer for 
investigating this?

I think we need to leave anonymous off until we have that. I spend 4-5 
hours a week removing spam as it is, it's too time consuming to continue.
