[Adium-devl] Random thoughts about 1.0final

First thought: Operation "Giant numbers, baby".
Since we expect to significantly increase our userbase with 1.0 final,
I think this would be a neat trick, and would be a bit of a nice way
to thank everyone who's using Adium. On the front page, we could have
a large counter, perhaps looking like a car odometer, saying how many
downloads of Adium 1.0 we've had so far. It would be really sweet if
that number ever had 7 digits :)
Second thought: Project "Not necessarily old and busted, but that's
definitely the new hotness".
Our current website is nice, clean, and functional. It's also been our
website throughout the 0.8x series, and is (at least to me) associated
with that version of Adium. Considering how big of a leap 1.0 is, I
think we should really hammer that point home to our users by
deploying a new website. It doesn't have to have fancy new features,
or really even be all that different. Perhaps something a bit more "OS
X"-like (or not) The various indie dev websites all seem to have some
commonalities in design, mostly stemming from Apple's look and feel.
Perhaps we should look in to going down that road? Colloquy's website
is an alright example of this -- although the brown color isn't the
nicest. How about a green? It's pretty much the official color of
Adium, what with Adiumy being all green & all :) I still like having
the duck be the big ol' download button. Very no-nonsense, which is a
very Adium-like attitude.
What do you guys think? My only concern with the second idea is that
it may delay the roll out of 1.0, which we definitely don't want to do.
