Alright, I'm a little confused.

How do you define the spirit of Adium? To me, it's the Mac OS X look
and ease of use. Windows-izing would make it another class of product
(that is, not Adium). With the possibility of making it harder to
use. Neither the Windows Shell or WMP are as easy to use products
like Aqua and iTunes on Mac OS X (in my opinion, I guess). If you're
using a seperate code base, why not just make your own multi-protocol
IM program?
Also, how would you make "Windium" different to Miranda, Trillian et
al? What exactly are you asking permission for? Are you asking if you
can name your IM program Adium? What features do you intend on
preserving in the Windows version (given the majority of the code
base depends on the Mac OS X APIs).
It is good, however, to see your interest in the project! I'd love to
see a decent and easy to use multiprotocol IM program on Windows.
It might also be worth noting the ChatKit project - Adium is going to
switch to this at one point - it would be a waste of effort to port
Adium when it's about to undergo a major architectural change. Is
there an equivalent of ChatKit for Windows?
